FINIS TERRAE SAILORS

SONS OF THE SOUTHERN WINDS

RESILIENCE AND STRENGTH TO WIN

The feared Cape Horn, the cold Chiloé fjords, the swell and strong winds of the central coast and the calm of the North Sea, are the school that has forged the mettle of Chileans; strong and resilient sailors. From the end of the world, they come to surprise and compete as equals against the great nations of navigators and inscribe their name in foreign waters. Earthquakes, tsunamis, floods and droughts. The geographical inclemencies of Chile and the Pacific Ocean are unique, and so is the personality of its inhabitants; with easy adaptability and resilience, they always manage to get the best out of every situation. The Chilean team is made up of varied personalities that, when complementing each other, transform it into an unbeatable team. With years of experience, eager youngsters, International championships, individual and team sailing, triumphs and defeats, the Chilean team is better prepared to show off on the water.

From our corner of the world we are part of the global village. This code represents the the virtual borders that distinguish us from other countries and at the same time allows us to connect with them.

The captain

PABLO LORCA

As a naval aviator he is brave, risky and determined. Our captain began his relationship with the sea in the navy, where he learned discipline and logistics. In addition to being a great bowman, he has managed to form several successful projects: female and mixed crew, as well as match racing championships and corporate regattas. His wide participation in international championships together with his enormous social skills, make him “the man” for the job.

The captain

THE LEADERS

RODRIGO “Rae” AMUNATEGUI

Methodical and meticulous, our main trimmer takes care of the rig tuning. His “zen” personality contributes in keeping the team calm in and out of the water. From a family of sailors, he began early
in IMS boats as a main trimmer on a 40ft boat and as helmsman on Lightning, J-24 and oceanic ships. He is currently a J-70 tactician and main trimmer in S-40.

FELIPE ECHENIQUE

Natural leader. 2 podiums in Optimist World Cups and 2 in South American Laser and Snipe Championships; his experience on board speaks for itself. Calm and gentle on land, hyperkinetic and focused on water. He plans, visualize and eloquently verbalize the maneuvers, anticipating each move. Helmsman and tactician in the high Brazilian leagues.

FELIPE “Flecha” ROBLES

Dynamic and restless, our helmsman started sailing in Dinghy boats, with great results. He began in the J-24 class as helmsman and tactician in different prominent teams, obtaining Pan American Odesur medals and outstanding participation in world championships. He has great technical dialogue and full confidence in the capabilities of his team.

THE LEADERSTHE LEADERS

THE YOUTH FACTOR

Our young sailors are characterized by their effort, perseverance and hunger for success. Clemente Seguel obtained -among other medals, a silver medal in the Laser U21 Worlds 2019. Alfredo Urzúa has shown great ability in team sailing, obtaining excellent results in the 29er and participating in J70 and S40 crews. We look out for their desire to be part of the big leagues and the rush of young souls.
