The SSL Nations Ranking February is out, and the big movers include Hungary, Chile and Malaysia. While there is no change in the top ten, there is plenty going on lower down the ranking table.
Hungary have moved up three places to 16 th , with four sailors in the top 100 of the SSL Global Skipper Ranking. Their highest-ranking sailor is SSL Team Hungary Captain and Tokyo 2020 Silver Medalist Zsombor Berecz , who is 25 th in the SSL Global Skipper Ranking. Others in the top 100 include Domonkos Nemeth (42nd ) , Jonatan Vadnai (58th ) , Szabolcs Majthenyi (89th ) .
Chile have moved up two places to 27 th . Their top ranked sailor in the SSL Global Skipper Ranking is Tito Gonzalez in 171 st with Felipe Robles 228 th . They also benefit from Alberto Gonzalez Jr being 226 th in the SSL Global Crew Ranking.
The big movers are Malaysia, who have jumped a huge 12 places into 49 th overall. Laser / ILCA 7 sailor Khairulnizam Mohd Afendy is their top ranked sailor in the SSL Global Skipper Ranking, but it was Muhamad Uzair Amin Mohd Yusof ‘s 637.5 points from finishing 3 rd in the SB20 Asia Pacific Championship which contributed most to their ranking rise, with Mohamad Faizal Norizan ‘s 6th place in the same event also gaining him 370.6 points.
The SSL Nations Ranking is calculated by adding the top five ranked Skippers and top two ranked Crew from each Nation in the SSL Global Ranking, to give a points total. The lower the total, the higher your Nation is ranked.
